Kathy (my wife) and I joined the MTS (Mission To Seafarers) in Port Hedland in 2012. The MTS is a world wide organisation. There are over 300 Centres around the world, there is 28 existing MTS Centres in Australia.
The previous Chaplain started distributing Christmas Bags (a bag full of little gifts) to all the Seafarers in Port and at Anchorage. Last Christmas we distributed 2000 Bags. In previous years we included a Cap in the Bags, however this year we would like to put a Beanie in each bag.
I am the Port Chaplain at Port Hedland. We had over 30000 Seafarers visit our Centre last year, as well as those Seafarers who are in our Port but unable to come ashore. And part of my duties is to visit those Seafarers as well as visiting those who have been injured or sick in hospital.
